We had a brilliant time at our gig on 13th December – thank you to everyone who came along to celebrate Christmas with us, and the brilliant team at St Paul’s Shadwell for hosting!
The Choir Is So Delightful took the audience on a journey through Christmas classics old and new (via a Broadway hit, some indie pop, and a sea shanty, naturally), as well as through epic singalongs of The 12 Days of Christmas (with actions!) and Fairytale of New York, such fun!
For the sixth year in a row we were raising money for the brilliant GrowTH night shelter, and had a goal of taking our grand total to date over £20K. Well, we did it! Through ticket sales and everyone’s generous donations on the night, the concert raised a total of £2,429.10, which will be almost doubled through generous match funding from Deutsche Bank and Skyscanner. Thank you to everyone involved in making this happen!
In their 2017/18 season, GrowTH provided night shelter and meals for 141 homeless men and women, and helped secure more permanent accommodation for 57. They also provide supported housing in four flats, supporting tenants with job seeking, gaining skills and accessing healthcare. We were delighted to welcome guests and volunteers of the shelter to join us for rehearsals and the concert again this season. To find out more about GrowTH’s work visit www.thisisgrowth.org.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year one and all!
