We had an absolute blast at our ‘Merry Christmas Everyone’ concert on Wednesday 16th December. With more than 60 singers and some 250 audience, we packed out St Peter’s Bethnal Green with festive fun – and raised more than £2500 for GrowTH in the process!
Featuring festive favourites such as Merry Christmas Everyone (obvs) and Fairytale of New York, some lesser known Christmas songs such as Mary Had a Baby and Mary Did You Know, and a little Joyful Joyful thrown in for good measure (because who doesn’t love Sister Act 2?!), the concert also showcased the amazing talent of three Year 11 girls from Bishop Challoner school. They absolutely brought the house down with their performances of Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy and a mash-up of Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree and Let It Snow.
It has been a great pleasure for us to support the amazing work of GrowTH over the past three years with our Christmas concerts (see 2014 and 2013!). GrowTH is a brilliant charity based in Tower Hamlets, providing emergency night shelter and meals, as well as support into more permanent accommodation and jobs, for homeless men and women. In their 2014/15 season they provided shelter for 151 guests, and will do similarly in the current season they’re in. You can find out more about the night shelter here.
We are delighted to have raised a total of £2569.52 for GrowTH with this concert – huge thanks to everyone who performed, came along, and helped make it happen!
